Phenomenological Study of Volunteer Experience of Long-Term Volunteers

Abstract
This study is intended to understand the volunteer experience of long-term volunteers. To this end, in-depth interviews were collected for six people living in Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do and continuing volunteer work. The study was conducted from September to December 2019, using Giorgi's phenomenological method and analyzing it. The analysis resulted in four categories, 14 subcategories, and 65 meaning units related to volunteers' long-term volunteer experiences, and the theme of the experience was ¡°first experience of expectation and fear¡± of volunteering with various motives. In addition, he experiences the ¡°source of power that leads volunteer activities for a long time¡± by overcoming the crisis of suspension, eventually experiencing the ¡°finding his own life in volunteer activities.¡± According to the analysis, the biggest strength of continuing volunteer work was family support, the vitality of life due to volunteer work, the power of group solidarity, and embracing like a mother. The analysis results, it was revealed that the greatest strength to continue volunteering was family support, vitality of life due to volunteering, the power to guide each other, and cherishing like a mother.
